My Production

A brief about what is production: Production is the main part of filming because it is the filming.

In this part. Everyone is at on the set and filming the scenes it takes to make the video.

In this everyone is important, no matter how small their job is.

My Production:

As seen in the previous post about what really is production, here is how my production went.

Starting from day one. The scenes where my character is happy , as seen from the environment they were filmed in the school.
Why in the school, some people may ask. Well, going to be brutally honest.
I chose that location because first of all, I really had no time to go outside and call my friends for filming because at said time they were busy with their school work (not in the same school problems) and due to some personal issues, I really couldn't go out and film so the last place where a person would have friends would be the school. Because, hey, lets be honest, school life without friends is really boring.

So, I chose my school's senior block sitting area and took shots of my character.
Here is a behind the scene:

This scene almost took : 7 shoots.

(Me showing the actresses the scenes)

The next scenes were the bus scenes. For these scenes, they were mostly filmed on Mondays and Wednesdays (actually these were the days the filming happened, adding one Saturday)

A rough cut of the bus scene:

From this one can easy guess how was the situation in the bus. In this the biggest problem was that because of the really limited space, there was no room to place any of the camera equipment. So this was filmed while being hand held and was later on stabilised in Adobe Premiere Pro 2018.

For my film I used the camera stand to film scenes which were long. Most of the scenes were filmed without any support.

One of the scenes could not be put in because:

If one sees really carefully, the camera stand can be clearly shown in the scene.
Once this was realised it was quickly removed from the scene and was filmed again.

In one of the scene, it shows my character is sitting on the bed while studying. It may sound really simple but this was one of this scenes which took the longest to shoot because it had to be taken from various angles and the positioning of the character as well.

In this scene there were many times where we had to take a rest because well, it is hard for a human to sit in the same position for a long time. So at that moment, positioning of the things were marked in case anyone decided to remove it. Shots for continuation were also taken:
This was the continuation shot.

Another scene which was really exacting was the throwing the book in the dustbin part.
This scene was filmed on all 3 days (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday) because if any change was made in the previous scene, this was re filmed according to it. It was also the over how the book fell in the dustbin 😅.

After many shots, the most suiting one was put in the video.

Other things were also marked :
The water level was marked with a red marker.

A crying scene was also recorded but unfortunately the footage wasn't good enough so it was not shown.

Holy water was used as the tears (as we cant add in eye drops and zamzam (holy water) is said to improve eyesight 😅, so this was used) and a syringe was used to put it in the eye.

Position for where the character would stand was also marked by me:
This trick was learnt in the many workshops we were given a chance to go to by Manipal University.

Budget:
As I had mentioned my budget in pre-production to not exceed 20 dhs, believe it or not, it did not exceed the budget. Well, honestly, i didn't spend even a bit of a money during my production. Because the drop of the actress and director was done by school transportation and well, we can say we spent petrol money to travel 20 minutes (between the filming location and the actresses dwelling). The food provided was home cooked food and all necessary props were already present, including the medicines and the clothes.
Although we did spend some money (15/- dhs) to buy volcano noodle and Jjanjang noodle packets along with some water bottles (which were available near my house supermarket)
😅

Next on for post production.
