Preliminary Task #2

This was my Preliminary Task #2 where we were asked to make a Disney Montage. In this we had to select scenes which had common messages.

As you saw, this was my very first edit. Its not really good but i would still like to explain my points.

As anyone would see, my edit basically shows a journey.

First when a person finds love, they experience the euphoria they go through. All the wonderful times and journeys they go on to with their lovers but suddenly due to hardships or people, their love life takes a different path and causes harm to them and if their love was true (which in all Disney movies they are) they would overcome that harm no matter what and live happily together.

Now starting with my scene choices explanations:
For starters: i would like to point out the fact that through this edit, anyone can see the way technology has improved through out the years
As everyone knows, Snow white was released in 1937 while Tangled was released in 2010. A gap of 73 years. Of course technology would improve. These are most definitely seen in scenes where the characters hair are included.

In the scenes above from Snow white, as you can see very less detailing to the hair is given while in Tangled:

Each and every detail is given to each and every strand of hair. This can also be clearly shown in the hair cutting scene :

In these 2 scenes, you can see the extreme detailing of the hair.
(This is video is just for readers who are a bot more curious over how her hair was created)

MOVING ON (we strayed a bit over there)

So first talking about the technology gap, lets focus on the scenes, shall we?

Snow white VS Tangled
  • Both of them take place in the woods.

Now lets talk over the colours used in the 2 scenes.
I particularly chose these 2 scenes because as you can see, the dark colouring of the scene gives it a much more eerie look and portrays a kind of a mystery of over what could be happening inside these places in the woods.

  • Both of them have villains who are after their beauty (in a way)

The Evil Queen: Wanted to become the fairest of them all and was jealous of Snow Whites features.
Mother Gothel: Wanted Rapunzel because of her hair which had magical powers.
In both of the stories, the evil character is searching for the princesses.

  • Both of them meet their loves in the woods and go on happy journeys with them. Though this can not really be said for Snow White because as far as i can remember, there were no magical scenes in Snow White as there were in Tangled.
Talking about tangled, the lantern scene is one of the magical scenes Rapunzel enjoys with her love.

How ever this scene can be compared to Aladdin.

Tangled VS Aladdin
In this most of the similarities are between the male characters of the movies, though not included in the video, I would still like to point it out.
  • Flynn Rider and Aladdin are both thief's who lied about their names and  stole things for a living.
  • Both showed the princess the outside world.

From the princesses point of view, again not added in the video but:

Both are princess with long hair, closed in a tower (castle for Jasmine) and have no idea about the outer world until Flynn and Aladdin arrive.

Snow white VS Tangled VS Aladdin

The similarity between all the three movie, in my point of view would be the tragic scenes:

As you can see in all three of the scenes, there is a close up shot of the hand where it lies lifeless. (In the last one it not being the princess hand 🌝).
This is the "tragic stage"of their life where they have to overcome their problems to spend a happy life.
